The Guzzle H2O Stream Portable Water Filtration & Purification System uses a three-stage process to filter and purify drinking water:
The first stage is the 1-micron prefilter on the intake hose. This stage physically removes larger sediment particles.*
The second stage is an activated carbon block 0.5 micron filter. This stage physically removes particles larger than 0.5 microns, and it chemically filters and absorbs bad taste, odors, chlorine, lead, mercury, VOCs, sediment, and cysts.
The third stage is an LED UV-C purification chamber. This stage inactivates 99.99% of bacteria, protozoa, and viruses. UV-C photons penetrate cells and
damage the nucleic acid, rendering them incapable of reproduction, and microbiologically inactive. The LED purification process relies upon the filtration stage to remove contaminants that may block or limit the penetration of UV rays.
The Stream also includes a pump with a pressure switch that allows it to sense if incoming water is pressurized, as from a water faucet, or if it is unpressurized, as in a typical natural water feature.
It also includes a rechargeable battery for electrical power.
*OPTIONAL 0.35-micron GUIDE PREFILTER should be used in high-sediment condtions.

What do I have to maintain?
The only consumable is the carbon block cartridge. They’re rated for 1000 gallons of city water or 6 months. We have ours sourced in the US with the best formulation we know.
How is it powered?
It has a rechargeable Lithium battery. It takes about 2 hours to recharge.
Does 12v or 110/220v charge faster?
They each take about 2 hours to recharge.
When do I have to replace the Scout prefilter?
The Scout can be rinsed and reused. You should only need to replace the Scout if there is damage or rinsing no longer seems to work.
The same method can be applied to the Guide prefilter.
*You cannot rinse the carbon block cartridge for reuse.
What if I only use the Stream intermittently? Do you have recommendations?
We recommend keeping the Stream charged, or at least charging it every month or two. It can also stay plugged in. The charger automatically turns itself off.
To extend the life of your carbon block cartridge between uses, we recommend opening the housing and letting the carbon block cartridge completely dry out.
