As all of you with the 2019-2024 907 Sprinter are aware, the moment you get to 10MPH, your rear camera shuts down; the Mid City Rear Camera On-Demand Programmer for 2019-2024 Mercedes Sprinter Vans (907RVCI) is the solution to have your camera on while driving.

The Mid City Rear Camera On-Demand Programmer for 2019-2024 Mercedes Sprinter Vans (907RVCI) is locked to the VIN of the vehicle, so if you lose the programming, you can easily reprogram with the unit.

IMPORTANT: Some random Mercedes-Benz MBUX radios do not have a NAVI/MAP button from the factory and the NAVI/MAP button is required to activate the camera on demand. We are working on firmware that supports these radios and we hope to release it soon. If the vehicle does not have a NAVI/MAP button on the MBUX radio, please let us know and we will let you know when the new firmware is available. If the vehicle does have the NAVI/MAP button on the MBUX radio and a rear-only camera, the system will work with the current firmware.

Here are the easy-to-follow installation instructions for the Mid City Engineering 907RVCI Rear Camera On-Demand system.

Phase 1: Dash & Floor Disassembly

  1. Remove Knee Bolster Panel: Use a plastic pry tool to remove the small panel at the end of the driver-side knee bolster.
  2. Remove Footwell Screws: Locate and remove the two screws at the end of the footwell, then remove that panel.
  3. Access Fuse Box: * Turn the plastic screws in the footwell counter-clockwise.
    • Remove the access panel and pull back the floor liner to reveal the fuse access panel.
  4. Remove Sill Panel:
    • Remove the single screw holding the sill panel in place (under the floor liner).
    • Pop out the two plastic panel tabs.
    • Pull back the floor and set the sill panel aside.

Phase 2: Wiring & Power

  1. Connect Ground: Locate the factory bolt near the door opening. Remove it, place the black wire’s ring terminal onto the post, and tighten the bolt back down.
  2. Connect Power: * Find the red power lead on the 907RVCI harness.
    • Route the empty fuse holder terminal through the bottom of the fuse box (under the passenger floor).
    • Insert it into the designated fuse location (refer to your kit’s specific diagram, often near a yellow wire).
    • Insert the provided fuse into the top of the holder.

Phase 3: CAN Bus Connection

  1. Locate CAN Block: Find the CAN distribution block below the A-pillar (identifiable by purple and purple/white wires).
  2. Prepare Connector: Plug the provided 2-pin CAN plug into an empty spot on the block.
    • Note: You may need to trim the plastic keying tab on the connector to make it fit.
  3. Identify Correct OEM Plug:
    • Wake the vehicle by pressing Unlock on your key fob.
    • The Yellow LED on the 907RVCI module will start flashing.
    • Unplug the factory plugs from the distribution block one by one until the Yellow LED stops flashing (wait up to 20 seconds after each unplug).
    • Once found, connect that specific OEM plug into the male 2-pin plug on the Mid City harness.
    • A Green LED will flash once the connection is successful.

Phase 4: Testing & Operation

  • To Activate: While the vehicle is in Drive, press the RADIO/MEDIA and TEL buttons on the radio at the same time.
  • To Exit: Press the same RADIO/MEDIA and TEL buttons again to return to the standard screen.
  • Note: If the vehicle is in Park, use the factory OEM camera button as usual.
