Mid City W907 Steering Wheel Control Interface for 2019-2024 Mercedes Sprinter Vans w/ Alpine Radio (907SWCA) Installation Guide:

Here are the easy-to-follow instructions for the Mid City Engineering 907SWC interface. This module allows you to retain your factory steering wheel button functions (volume, track, phone) when upgrading to an aftermarket radio.

Phase 1: Footwell Disassembly & Wiring Access

  1. Remove Kick Panel: Locate the two plastic screws in the middle of the passenger-side kick panel (below the knee bolster). Turn them counter-clockwise to remove the panel.
  2. Remove Floor Cover:
    • Remove the screw on the door-side of the plastic floor cover.
    • Pull back the floor cover and remove the emergency tool set to reveal the electronics bay.
  3. Identify Components: The vehicle’s fuse box and main wiring harnesses are located directly beneath where the emergency kit was stored.

Phase 2: CAN Bus Integration

  1. Locate CAN Block: Find the CAN distribution block located below the A-pillar. This specific block is identified by its purple and purple/white factory wires.
  2. Connect Interface: Plug the provided 2-pin white plug from the 907SWC harness into any available empty slot in this purple/white distribution block.

Phase 3: Power & Ground Connections

  1. Connect Power: Attach the Red wire from the 907SWC harness to the same power supply being used for your new radio (typically the Retained Accessory Power/RAP source).
  2. Connect Ground: Attach the Black wire to the same chassis ground source being used for the radio.

Phase 4: Radio Configuration

  1. Input Connection: Connect the 907SWC interface to the “Steering Wheel Control” or “Remote” input on the back of your aftermarket head unit.
    • Note: The connection type (3.5mm jack or wire-to-wire) depends on your specific radio brand (Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer, etc.).
  2. Testing: Turn the ignition on and verify that the volume, track, and phone buttons on the steering wheel correctly operate the new radio.

Final Steps

  • Secure the Module: Use zip ties to secure the 907SWC module and wiring away from the passenger’s feet and any moving parts.
  • Reassemble: Replace the emergency tool kit, floor cover, and kick panel. Ensure no wires are pinched during reassembly.
