Mid City Wig Wag Module for LED Lights for 2019+ Mercedes Sprinter Vans (WIGWAGLED) Instruction Guide:
Here are the easy-to-follow instructions for the Mid City Engineering WIGWAG system. This module allows you to flash the vehicle’s factory exterior lights in a high-visibility pattern, providing an integrated solution for safety and visibility without adding external light bars.
Phase 1: Dash & Sill Disassembly
- Remove Trim Panels:
- Pry off the small panel at the end of the driver-side knee bolster.
- Remove the two screws at the end of the footwell and remove that lower panel.
- Access Fuse Box:
- Turn the plastic screws in the footwell counter-clockwise to release the panel.
- Pull back the floor liner to expose the fuse access area.
- Remove Sill Plate:
- Remove the single screw holding the sill panel in place (located under the floor liner).
- Pop out the two plastic panel tabs and set the sill panel aside.
Phase 2: Wiring & Power
- Connect Ground:
- Remove the factory grounding bolt near the door opening.
- Place the black wire’s ring terminal onto the post and tighten the bolt securely.
- Connect Power:
- The harness includes a red power lead with a fuse holder terminal.
- Route this terminal through the underside of the fuse box (under the passenger floor).
- Insert it into a constant power location (refer to your specific kit diagram) and insert the provided fuse into the top.
Phase 3: CAN Bus Integration
- Locate CAN Block: Find the distribution block below the A-pillar featuring green and green/white wires.
- Plug in Module: Insert the provided 2-pin white CAN plug into an empty spot on the block.
- Note: If the block is full, remove one factory plug, insert the provided plug, and connect the factory plug into the male receptacle on the T-harness.
- Verify Connection: Press the Start button once (ACC mode). The yellow and green lights on the WIGWAG module will flash. Once communication is established, both lights will turn solid.
Phase 4: Activation & Operation
- Connect Pigtail: Plug the 6-pin pigtail into the white port on the module. Ensure all unused wires are properly insulated with heat shrink or electrical tape.
- Trigger the Pattern: To activate the flashing lights, ground one of the following wires via a switch or auxiliary input:
- Fast Pattern: Ground the Gray wire.
- Slow Pattern: Ground the Purple wire.
Important Safety Warnings
- Usage Compliance: This module is intended for off-road or emergency use. Ensure you are following all local and state laws regarding the use of flashing exterior vehicle lighting.
- Secure Mounting: Once testing is complete, use zip ties to mount the module securely away from the steering column, brake pedals, or other moving parts.
