SEYMOUR® Spruce® 98-31 is a fast-drying clear acrylic lacquer spray designed for auto body finish work where rapid recoat cycles are required. Packaged in a 16 fl-oz aerosol can, it provides up to 15 sq ft of coverage per coat on compatible substrates such as aluminum, e-coat, primer and wood.
Recoat time is listed at 20 minutes when applied within the recommended temperature range of 50-90 °F, enabling efficient workflow in shop environments. The formulation offers a two-year shelf life under proper storage conditions, ensuring consistent performance over multiple projects.
Because the product is classified as flammable, carcinogenic and an aquatic toxin, use must include eye protection, chemical-resistant gloves, protective clothing and a suitable respirator. Apply in a well-ventilated area and observe all H-statements (H222, H280, H315, H319, H336, H351, H361, H373) for safe handling.

Application Guide
- Clean the substrate (aluminum, e-coat, primer, or wood) and remove all contaminants; ensure a dry, oil-free surface.
- Verify ambient temperature is between 50 °F and 90 °F before spraying.
- Apply a thin, even coat with the aerosol spray gun using overlapping strokes.
- Allow at least 20 minutes flash time (recoat time) before applying additional coats as needed to achieve full coverage (up to 15 sq-ft per can).
- After the final coat, allow the finish to cure under the same temperature range; no specific post-cure time is required beyond the recoat interval.
