Unrestrained dogs can be a hidden threat in your car:

In a 40 km/h (25 mph) crash, an unrestrained 34 kg (75-pound) dog can become a 1,360 kg (3,000-pound) force*, posing a deadly risk to everyone in the car. Only 16% of pet owners use safety restraints for their dogs**. Even smaller dogs aren’t safe; a 4.5 kg (10-pound) dog can exert 136 kg (300 pounds) of force in a 50 km/h (30 mph) crash*. Thule Allax Vehicle Dog Crate Size Guide:

How to choose the right size dog crate

Choosing the right size dog crate is critical for your dog’s comfort, safety, and well-being during travel. The crate should provide enough space for your dog to sit, stand, turn around, and lay down in a natural position. However, it shouldn’t be so large that your dog can slide or be tossed around during travel, which can lead to potential injury.

Measure your dog

You need to measure your dog to make sure that the crate you buy will be the right size. Here’s how to do it!

Measure your dog’s wither height

Use a tape measure to find the height from the ground to the top of your dog’s withers (shoulder blades).

Single crate sizes:

• XS: For dogs with a wither height of up to 16.5 In. (Example breeds: Miniature Schnauzer, Jack Russell)
